Who We Are The YWCA of Racine has been affiliated with Dress for Success since 2004. The mission of Dress for Success Racine is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
What We Do | Suits The clothing that Dress for Success Racine provides to our clients symbolizes our faith in every woman's ability to succeed.
Dress for Success Racine solves the catch-22 that confronts disadvantaged women trying to enter the workforce: without a job, how can you afford a suit? But without a suit, how can you get a job?
Each Dress for Success Racine client receives one suit when she has a job interview and additional apparel—up to a week's worth of clothing—when she becomes employed.
After a client finds work, she can return to Dress for Success Racine for her employment suiting, during which we provide her with enough additional apparel to mix and match for up to a week's worth of outfits.
Job-ready women come to Dress for Success Racine by referral only from a range of non-profit organizations. Each client works one-on-one with a highly-trained volunteer Personal Shopper, who helps her select professional attire and also provides support and encouragement as the woman prepares for her upcoming interviews.
Professional Women's Group Success is not only about getting a job; it's about building a career. The purpose of the Professional Women's Group is to provide our network of employed Dress for Success women the partnership of support, practical information and inspiration to achieve self-defined success in career and life. Women making the transition from unemployment to work face myriad challenges, from understanding corporate culture to handling personal finances, often without any support systems in place to help them navigate this daunting change.
Mentoring Dress for Success understands that a woman's career development is an ongoing process. Mentoring addresses the need for additional support during this time by offering professional role models and one-on-one guidance to help women shape and pursue their career goals. Mentorship is a powerful experience for both mentor and mentee; often these new relationships permanently enrich the participants' lives. By implementing innovative ways to incorporate mentoring into our employment retention programming, we are able to provide this added benefit to our clients.
